USB Bluetooth in Win10 VM: 'Try connecting your device again'

Featured Replies

My USB bluetooth module won't connect to my Wahoo Kickr or Wahoo Cadence (bicycle power / speed meter) in my Windows 10 VM on unraid.

I tried:

  • Device passthrough using VM GUI
  • USB hub passthrough (spaceinvaderone video)
  • Various USB bluetooth dongles from Amazon

They all result in a device that appears to be working.

However when I try to connect

I can see my Wahoo Kickr blink on the BT light, but won't connect. If I try any other laptop with any of the BT usb dongles I purchased it's no problem.

And then if I try to connect to something else like my Bose QC35 in my Win10 VM... no problem either:

What the heck is going on!?! It's raining and I'm thirsty for some bicycle trainer action!

Unplugged my drive array and rebooted my system to my former Win10 SSD boot drive and it works no problem.

So it's definitely not a hardware issue and 100% a VM issue. If anyone knows where I can even start to investigate this issue let me know please.
