LSI 9217-8i no drives detected

Featured Replies

Hi! Just put together my new server with 11 drives, but only the 3 of them that are connected to my motherboard directly are visible.

So here's the LSI 9217-8i and the cables SAS SFF-8087 (and here the picture of the DS380 backplane that is holding 7 drives, and yes I connected to SATA and not SAS port).

I also flashed the LSI card with the IT firmware : 9217-8i_Package_P20_IR_IT_Firmware_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows with the EFI Shell of my motherboard.

Also, the card is nicely showing up at boot in IT mode.

Is my SFF-8087 cable not good? I just ordered some cables labelled as Forward Breakout Cable this time to be sure, but is this the issue here?

Thanks for any answer!

Most likely the wrong cables, but difficult to say for sure since the page doesn't have a detailed description or part number.

Do you see the drives at post? If not.. check your cables first. Do you have all power to the backplane as well?
