June 22, 20206 yr I would like to re-use some hardware with unraid. I have quite a few Hitachi disk shelves which are normally setup as Storage arrays with proprietary controllers I am looking at just using the sas shelves with new head servers. I am using an LSI sas controller which seems to be working fine in IT mode however the disks in the shelf are not active, and sg commands don't seem to help. The shelf has a sas expander device - PMCSIERA SXP 36x6Gsec RevC (a pm8005) which seems to be stopping the disks from starting and I cannot seem to upgrade it's firmware or any of the disks attached to it ,so think I need a Hitachi specific utility to unlock or upgrade it. I think this is the same device which is used in HP Storage arrays. Has anyone any experience of this?
June 14, 20215 yr Same here - would be great if someone able to figure this out. Using LSI SAS 9200-8e and 9300-8e - can't get the drive to be active. Same drive works fine if usng other enclosures.
