Time Machine - Volume limit ignored

I've got a time machine share setup with a volume limit of 500,000MB but the share currently has 704GB of data, wondering if anyone has any experience / recommendations for the limit being ignored?

Mac - Time machine reports - 186GB of 498GB free

Unraid - Time machine share reports - 2.05GB free, Share calcs as  704GB 

Unraid - Drive with share reports - 2.05GB free of 1TB drive
