January 8, 201115 yr Started again but initially discussed here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=7228.0 The idea is that unRAID can support NON ARRAY disks of a far wider set of file systems. This is useful for tools such as SNAP where a user wants to plug in say a USB HDD and mount it on unRAID for easy data distribution or super fast upload. For clarity this is nothing to do with replacing the reiser ARRAY disk format type. The 4.6 RC series gained a few of these file system but they were removed for 4.6 final. I believe these file system should be added back to the 5.0 beta series as soon as possible as speaking personally I am now trapped on a 4.6 RC waiting for this feature to return.

This feature is in 5.0-beta3 in regards to the cache drive. So your cache drive can be any format (including NTFS read-only), but if you format under unRaid it will use ReiserFS. I was working on cache drive hot plug, but put it on the back burner until after 5.0-beta3.
January 8, 201115 yr Author Superb.! This feature is SO important to me I am actually considering replacing my server MB's so that they support USB3. I love the "cache drive hot plug". It sounds so sensible now you mention it.
January 27, 201115 yr So would this include the ability to choose different file systems for unRAID data disks, or just the ability to recognize different file systems mounted outside the array (as a cache drive, or via SNAP)?
