July 5, 20206 yr Tonight my unRAID was giving me trouble. I went to the Dashboard and saw one drive had failed. After ordering it's replacement, I rebooted the server to try and fix the other issues with some services running on it. When I did it returned from the reboot saying there was no OS found. The USB drive comes up as unformatted on multiple other PCs. I know there are instructions to create a new USB to boot from, and move the key over. I'm concerned that the new install won't know what to do with the failed drive. I also don't have all my previous drive assignments to know how to correctly assign them to the new install. Any guidance on the right way to go forward with this and not lose data would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
July 5, 20206 yr Community Expert It's possible to disable a drive on a new install, so you can rebuild or replace it, but you need to know the assignments, or at least with drive is parity (if there was only one) and which is the failed drive.
