Using GDrive but only for specific files

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have an unlimited Gdrive account that I would like to use with Unraid. I have seen the guide and so, but I haven't started to mount anything yet because I'm wondering how I'm going to use it.

I'm planning to have enough local space because I like to keep things local, but I was thinking: what if I setup another Plex library in the gdrive with rclone and that stuff and put there 'less important' things? Like TV Shows and movies I don't mind to lose. I have a friend that has all its library in GDrive and he says that even 4K is well played.

The only problem, which it isnt a big deal but may could be solved, it is that I should have 2 plex libraries right?. Is there anyway to merge GDrive with a user share in Unraid and select which ones are going to be in gdrive and which aren't? Maybe if I put a folder ('Gdrivemovies') inside my '/movies/'  folder (my actual plex library) plex will only read it as one?

Maybe some of you have solved this problem or can give me some ideas about this

Thanks in advance!

There are 2 ways to do it.

  • If your media server upports multiple folder per library then you can just add 2 folders to the same library.
  • Alternatively, you can use a pooling software like mergerfs / unionfs to combine 2 folders together to the same mount point.

If you follow DZMM's guide, it's somewhat trivial to add another folder to the mergerfs list.
