Hardware error and unexpected shutdowns

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I recently upgraded my hardware (motherboard, cpu, ram) of my unraid server and everything runs fine when it is running, but on occasion my server will just randomly restart itself. Seems to happen at nighttime and I have never had it happen while the server was in use.

I have no idea how to go about troubleshooting this, as this was all hardware I pulled from an existing machine that was working fine beforehand.

The only errors I see in my system log are:

Jul 16 12:58:09 FC-RAID kernel: mce: [Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged
Jul 16 12:58:09 FC-RAID kernel: mce: [Hardware Error]: CPU 9: Machine Check: 0 Bank 5: bea0000000000108
Jul 16 12:58:09 FC-RAID kernel: mce: [Hardware Error]: TSC 0 ADDR 1ffff810a28c8 MISC d012000100000000 SYND 4d000000 IPID 500b000000000

I have linked my diagnostics below. Any help on what might be the issue or what I can do to start troubleshooting the problem would be greatly appreciated!

thanks Johnnie, I changed that Power Supply Idle Control setting in my bios. Will keep my eye on it for a few days to see if it fixes the issue.
