ashman70 Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 I have a drive in my array that has some reported uncorrected errors. It passes an extended smart test and the value representing the errors has not changed in about a week. I have a parity check coming up in about a week and I am wondering what will happen. I assume the parity check will fail but will the drives data be emulated by the parity drive forcing me to replace it? I want to replace it but just don't have the $$ at the moment since being laid off since March due to covid. https://imgur.com/a/ULSNTF6 Quote
Gragorg Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 (edited) Post a diagnostics file for the gurus to look at. To confirm the drive is currently disabled and being emulated? I have a drive that had the same issue and has not changed so it could be a one off. When I had this issue I just hit clear disk stats so I could see right away if the drive changed. It has been fine for a year or two so far. Edited July 17, 2020 by Gragorg Quote
JorgeB Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 If the extended SMART test passes the parity check should also complete without read errors. Quote
