Unmountable No File system FS auto

Recommended Posts

Dear Unraiders,

I have an 8 disk array (7+1 parity)

During operation my LSI SAS 9201-8i died (not sure if files were being written)

Obtained a replacement LSI 9201-8i

After a reboot disk 5:
Unmountable No File system
FS auto

On checking my shares a significant number of files are missing, the drive is not being emulated. (I'm assuming my missing data is on the parity drive)

So straight to the forums and Unraid wiki page to see my next course of action.

From other users experiences, it seems my problem seemed to be an issue with the xfs (i could be wrong)

Put server into maintenance mode
so I ran xfs_repair -v /dev/md5
Phase 1 - find and verify superblock...
bad primary superblock - inconsistent filesystem geometry information !!!

its a 4tb WD red (not brand new)
After almost 8 hours ….
Sorry, could not find valid secondary superblock
Exiting now.

I have included the diagnostics.

Any help is most appreciated…as I'm a noob and have migrated from Drobo two months ago (happy apart from this issue)

1) Any idea of what to do next ?

2) Will i be able to obtain the missing data off the parity drive ? and if so How to do that, via format and rebuild ?
i’ve delayed the parity check and unchecked the ‘Write corrections to parity’ checkbox

Parity can't usually help with filesystem corruption, and it won't if it's 100% in sync, but because of the HBA problem it might not be, so you can try, stop the array, unassign disk5, start the array, if disk5 is still unmountable run xfs_repair on the emulated disk (it's also md5), if that doesn't work best bet is to ask for help on the xfs mailing list or to use a data recovery program like UFS explorer.
