(Solved) Unraid Parity disk error:

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi all

First up i am new to this, so I apologies up front if i ask stupid questions!

I have recently discovered that my parity disk is in error state

"Unraid Parity disk error: 22-07-2020 07:19

Alert [TOWER] - Parity disk in error state (disk dsbl)
WDC_WD30EFRX-68EUZN0_WD-WCC4N2NC347K (sdb)"

After having a look around the community forums, I have done the following.

1. Checked all cables

2. Run short self test (does not work)

3. Rebuild Parity

I believe that its maybe a hard drive failure (I have 3 x 3tb WD Red HD drives).

All other hard drives seem to be fine.

Can I also ask that if I do need another parity drive, can I install a larger drive to future proof?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Brett

I assume you mean the test fails?   If so you definitely need to replace the drive.  If a drive fails either the short or the extended SMART tests then the drive needs replacing.
