July 23, 20205 yr Hi all I planning build multy os pc. 1 GPU 1 CPU 1 sound from motherboard 1 keyboard 1 mice 2 monitors OK, how can i use Linux and windows for gaming same time with different, separated monitors? For Linux i guess should be integrated gpu. For windows Nvidia gpu. And i have only 2 HDDs... i don't need parity... i have a nas already for storage my files. So... i want use one HDD for windows and another one for Linux... Could some of you explain me, how can i build this system using unraid??? Edited July 23, 20205 yr by Shvonder
July 24, 20205 yr Hi and welcome to the forum. Before we begin, do you have any experience with unraid? What you want can be done quite easy but it's not something we can simply list as a few steps. I see you're talking about re-using your hdd's... It is possible to run VM's on hdd's but it is highly recommended to store them on ssd's. Check spaceinvaderone's youtube channel to start with.

I'm not sure what you mean but i think most of us use their unraid-setup as 'always on' systems. VM's can start/stop automatically when unraid boots/shuts down. July 31, 20205 yr I think unraid needs a dedicated gpu to boot. This will most likely be the iGPU. There are ways to passthrough the iGPU but i haven't looked into it yet so i can't help you there. What hardware do you have?

My server runs without a GPU entirely. Having a server that is meant to be headless require a GPU would be a dumb decision
July 31, 20205 yr True, it is not a requirement to boot. I was wrong. I was reffering to problems with passthrough when using only 1 gpu in the primary pcie slot or something? But those are solved in one of the latest versions? Back on topic. OP, have you tried setting up your server?
July 31, 20205 yr Seems like the best solution given your specific scenario is simply having a win10 machine with linux virtualised on the desktop (hyper-v, virtualbox etc)
