Mrobert
Hi, I had yesterday errors on one of the array disks, it was marked as disabled and array failed This is brand new disk so I restarted the server, attached this drive to array again and rebuild it - it went OK, all data was restored, the array was working again... for 24 hours Today in the morning I got more error messages, so now it's 3 disks with errors, what the hell is happening here? Can you help me sort this out? unraid-diagnostics-20200805-0910.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Multiple disk errors suggest a controller issue, but syslog is getting spammed with ACPI errors so can't see anything else, see here how to fix that, then reboot and post new diags if/when it happens again. Quote Link to comment
Mrobert
Thanks!, you meant that before it happens, should I just rebuild it again? Quote Link to comment

Yes, assuming the disk is healthy, there are no SMART reports on the diags posted, you'll need to power cycle or reboot, also make sure the emulated disk is mounting correctly and contents look OK before rebuilding on top. Mrobert
it is, well I think it is, it's rebuilding right now, I also added the power disabling thing from linked topic - thanks I saw that logs before, but found out that it's just log and it's not affecting anything so I left it be - fixed 1 Quote Link to comment
Mrobert
OK, so I'm half way in the process Second drive that failed is rebuild and showing files properly (no idea if all of them...) But, I noticed it yesterday during the process, disk 1 is Unmountable: No file system i tried to fix it with xfs_repair -v /dev/sde but with no luck (it's going for last two hours with just doting my console output .......... ) Diagnostics before last restart rebuild-unraid-diagnostics-20200806-0907.zip Current diagnostics last-diagnostics-20200806-1105.zip Quote Link to comment

Mrobert
Yea, it's quite too late, still nothing in this matter, I'm in the same spot. There are some metadata in the log, so check is suggesting, mount but mount is not mounting so back to square one Quote Link to comment

Mrobert
yes that's what I did, I'm running parity check again, we will see what happens... thanks Quote Link to comment
Mrobert
so here we are again... It is controller, isn't it? Parity check managed to finish with no errors... then disk died again again-unraid-diagnostics-20200807-0812.zip Quote Link to comment

Mrobert
I bought this card, because it's on the compatibility list Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Yep, but it's not recommended since first Unraid V6 release, it worked OK with older releases. Quote Link to comment
Mrobert
damn, I ordered cables for LSI last week, it should be here next week, will it be any better - will see... Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
LSI HBA is the best option, other than Intel SATA ports. Quote Link to comment
Mrobert
I have LSI 9206-16e but the plan was to use it for an external enclosure, now (before I get one) I just bought some SFF8644 to 4SATA cables and I hope it will be OK... Why it has to be uphill, like always 😜 Quote Link to comment
Mrobert
It's better and better I have cables already but... LSI seems to be dead (?) After installation, it's warm when touched but does not show in the BIOS nor in the lspci supposedly it was tested by the seller... Quote Link to comment
