Supermicro CSE-848 Unraid Compatibility?

Featured Replies

HI all,

I'm a new user to Unraid. I just wanted to run a system compatibility check past anyone who is willing to help. Here are the system specs:

Supermicro SuperChassis CSE-848 24-Bay Server

4 x Intel Xeon Eight-Core E5-4650 2.70GHz Processors

256GB DDR3 Ram

Motherboard X9QRI-F+ rev 1.02

Backplane Part Number: SAS846A

1 x Adaptec ASR-72405 RAID Controller With Battery

1 x Supermicro Dual Port 10Gb/s Ethernet Network Card AOC-STGN-i2S

2 x 1620W Power Supplies PWS-1K62P-1R

Can anyone confirm if all these parts are compatible?

Many thanks!

You will probably need to replace that with a non-RAID HBA like an LSI 9300.

Unraid doesn't play well with RAID controllers, it needs direct access to the drives.

Thanks for replying Jonathanmn. In the meantime I found this thread:

Where a guy ended up upgrading the Adaptec Firmware and got it working in HBA mode (card bios setting). Hopefully that works.

If I upgrade to a LSI 9300-8I (which is 12Gbps) do you know if I need to change out the SAS846A Backplane too?
