Does the drive hotswap cage have its own cooling? No mention of it in the specs. One 80mm fan is very little for six HDDs. Also, the CPU cooler height is limited to 40mm which you have noted based on your CPU cooler selection. That cooler is listed as compatible with the 3200G but with zero overclocking/turbo boost headroom. In other words, you'd have to disable, if possible, the automatic turbo frequency boost on the CPU or you could run into CPU cooling issues. It's a small, compact case and looks nice. My only concern is cooling, but that is often to 'gotcha' in these small Mini-ITX cases. The Fractal Node 304 case I am using for my backup server also accommodates 6 HDDs, but in a non hotswap configuration and it is a huge pain to access and modify drives and cabling. However, it has one 140mm and two 92mm cooling fans. Quote Link to comment
pras1011
Yes I did notice that cooling maybe a problem. I could use a fan that sounds like a jet engine. Or I could use a Noctua 80mm and block the grills on both sides to force the air through the drives. I have added more pictures. Sent from my SM-G977B using Tapatalk Quote Link to comment

Perhaps the U-NAS 810A could be an option (or have you already purchased the NAS6 case?) It has two 120mm fans and capacity for up to 8 hot-swap drives. I am not sure what the CPU cooler maximum height is but it is a top-mounted motherboard without a lot of clearance. EDIT: It looks like max cooler height is 58mm based on some user reviews (U-NAS does not tell you this) but you need some clearance if it is a top-flow cooler. My favorite compact cooler is the Noctua NH-L9x65 but at 65mm it is too tall for this case. Edited August 10, 2020 by Hoopster Quote Link to comment
pras1011
I am trying to keep my litres size of the case down. My old qnap 653a 6 bay is 11 litres but it has rubbish hardware. The Nas6 is about 13 litres. And i think the 8 bay is about 20 litres. Unless there is another 6 bay I should consider? (By the way I have bought all of the parts apart from the case.)Sent from my SM-G977B using Tapatalk Quote Link to comment

Lots of requests for a 6-bay case, but, they have never made one. 9 minutes ago, pras1011 said: am trying to keep my litres size of the case down Fair enough. No use going bigger than you need. pras1011
Well I bought it. I think cooling maybe a problem and the 80mm fan needs changing but there is not point in me getting a noctua a8 pwm as according to the specs its 10db quieter than the coolcox fan but same in noise and airflow. At full speed the coolcox is quiet. I was thinking, is there a fan that is a little louder but has great static pressure and air flow?Sent from my SM-G977B using Tapatalk Quote Link to comment
pras1011
Here are some pictures of my build. That Jeyi M2 sata expander is very hot and the temperature is 65c. There used to be a Gigabyte heatsink with a 40mm fan there and that was running at 60c. I am wondering if I should stick heatsinks on the Jeyi or install a 60mm Noctua fan in the gap where the fan wire is?Sent from my SM-G977B using Tapatalk Quote Link to comment
