August 13, 20205 yr Now i unmounted disk 3, the first movie drive, made movie share for disk 3 and 4. Stooped array, share didnt come up on disk 4, stopped array, restarted, still no share on disk 4. Rebooted unraid, still no share, stopped array, unmounted disk 3, 11.3 tb full, couldnt start array grayed out button. re mounted disk 3, started array, NOW disk 3 error, under main disk array says " Unmountable : NO file system". Its a 12tb drive with 11.3tb FULL Now my only option is to format it again according to unraid. This is why i did everything in UD on v6.8.0, didnt have these problems. WTF ??
August 13, 20205 yr Author copied 12 tb thru network onto unraid movie share. put share on 1 drive at a time, and didnt work. so i did what i said up there ^ so i could continuecoping movies to movie share but on a different drive. karens-diagnostics-20200813-1440.zip Edited August 13, 20205 yr by x88dually

August 13, 20205 yr Community Expert Also, post a screenshot of Main, and read this wiki while waiting on further advice: https://wiki.unraid.net/Check_Disk_Filesystems#Checking_and_fixing_drives_in_the_webGui
August 13, 20205 yr Author When i stopped the array, i went to disk 3 and made disk 3 nothing, i ewmoved drive and drive went to UD, where i clicked unmount.
August 13, 20205 yr Author ok, i'm baffled now, rebooted unraid, and now disk is mounted, and showing 765G free. Everythings working normal again ? the main is now showing and reading 11 drives with filesystem free and used space on disk 3. I dont get it ?!
August 13, 20205 yr Community Expert 2 minutes ago, x88dually said: i ewmoved drive and drive went to UD, where i clicked unmount. And here do you mean you clicked Mount (instead of unmount) in UD?
August 13, 20205 yr Community Expert Unless you Mount the disk in UD you can't Unmount it in UD so I am still confused by your description.
August 13, 20205 yr Author this is the way unraid is acting. Johhnie.black instructed me to NOT do anything with drives in UD, just put them in disk positions, set filesystem on each drive and let unraid do it all in v6.8.3. I'm trying to copy thru network 1 drive at a time so i can try to put things where I want them and on what drive i want.
August 13, 20205 yr Author Initial movie and tv shares went to 1 drive each. Now i'm tryin to get second 12tb movie drive copied into unraid 2nd movie drive. So i added movie share to disk 4, stopped array and rebooted a few times. Movie share never showed up on disk 4 till i startd coping to movie share.
August 13, 20205 yr Community Expert OK, I went looking for your other thread. Absolutely you should not remove array disks and try to access them in some other way. I also don't understand why you are trying to 5 minutes ago, x88dually said: put things where I want them and on what drive i want You can let Unraid worry about which disk files are on. That is what user shares is all about. And if you really want to move things from one disk to another then it would be faster to work with the disks directly on the server instead of over the network, but I suspect that would require some further learning. Since it seems you are working with disks, you also absolutely MUST avoid mixing user shares and disks when moving or copying files, or you can lose data. This is one of many reasons you should not even share the individual disk on the network.
August 13, 20205 yr Author I'm used to windows disk shares, not user shares, i want drive T copied to disk 5, so when something craps out i know exactly what i'm missing and can re copy thru network if i need to. I want to put things where i want, not where unraid feels like putting them.
August 13, 20205 yr Community Expert Are you planning to use the user shares feature at all? If so, it would be better if you forget about the disks. User shares allow folders to span disks, allows caching, and other benefits. You can restrict the disks used by specific user shares, and that is really the best way to get things on specific disks.
August 13, 20205 yr Author Dont know if i'm doing this right or wrong. i'd like to add a disk to user share 1 by 1 as the previous gets filled up. I tell unraid to add share to next disk, and start coping to that user share. Thats what i was doing with movies for disk 3 and then added disk 4 to movie share.

That sounds fine, and is similar to what I do. So what exactly is the problem you are having that makes you think you need to move anything?
August 13, 20205 yr Author movie share didnt go onto disk 4 after a few array stops and starts, and 2 unraid reboots. Then when i started coping to movie share everything started to onto disk 4 and the full disk 3 came back up normal again, with no error of unmountable disk: no filesystem. I dont get it. Now i have tv share on disk 5,6,7,8,9, but only disk 5 shows tv share. So i'm gonna take disk 6,7,8,9 out of tv share til i start coping to tv share on disk 5. When its full, i put disk 6 into tv share. Do i stop array or reboot to make windows copy to tv share on disk 6 ?
August 13, 20205 yr Community Expert Go to Tools - Diagnostics and attach the complete Diagnostics ZIP file to your NEXT post in this thread.
August 13, 20205 yr Community Expert Sorry, I see I already have your diagnostics. Reviewing them now.
August 13, 20205 yr Community Expert I am a bit confused by the settings you have for Minimum Free on your shares. Can you post a screenshot of the Settings for you Movies share?
August 13, 20205 yr Community Expert Currently, your appdata, domains, and system shares are all on cache where they should be, and where they should stay. But it seems you have configured them to be moved to the array. Change these shares back to cache-prefer immediately.
August 13, 20205 yr Community Expert Also, your docker image is 75G. Why have you made it so large? Have you had problems filling it? 20G should be more than enough and if it grows you have some application misconfigured. I recommend reducing that to 20G.

August 13, 20205 yr Author all 3 shares say all disks, even with prefer applied. Thats why i had them set to disk 1, thats changed now. Docker is down to 25g I want 749gig free on each drive, windows drives are duplicates. Things still have to be reencoded and replaced. karens-diagnostics-20200813-1627.zip Edited August 13, 20205 yr by x88dually
