I have an Areca ARC-1210 which is a 4 port PCI-E x8 raid card.  Under Windows environments it works well.  From my understanding, it works fine in unRaid as well except I don't think you can spin down the drives or get temp. readings from them.  I know you can spin down via the Areca bios, but I would like to have all my drives function the exact same way regardless if they are on the MB sata ports or an expansion card.

 

Therefore, what 8 port cards offer this seemless integration?  Does the Supermicro one that is recommended offer this?  Thanks.

    Yes, the Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 allows both drive spin down and temp readings controlled by unRAID.  It is by far the best option available today.
