[PLEX] Same library, same files, but different episode organization

Featured Replies

I didn't know where to post this, but General Support seemed best suited.  I have had episode naming issues in the past, but this one has me stumped.

I am running the linuxserver/plex docker container in which I  have two separate user profiles set up; one for me and one for my son.  I have had zero issues until I added the Pee-wee's Playhouse catalog this morning.  My son's profile sees everything correctly as shown in the attached screen shot.  My profile however sees things quite differently.  My profiles shows each season as an unnamed separate series with no pictures, no meta data, and no episode naming.

I have tried removing the folder from my library.  I have tried re-scanning.  I have tried re downloading the metadata.  Evey time I add the media folder back to the library I get the same thing, yet my son's profile consistently sees it correctly.

Any thoughts?  Many thanks in advance.

I doubt this is the preferred solution but have you tried to create a new profile for yourself and see how the metadata shows up?  If it is proper then just use the new profile.  It sounds like there is something corrupt in your individual profile.

Also, you could always spin up a new Plex docker, linuxserver or other,  along side the current one (if linuxserver use a different docker name and port) and see if you experience the same issues.  I realize if you have a huge library this is not ideal, just a thought.

So I think you're on to something here.  I created a new profile and it picked up the series like normal (and like my son's profile).  Which led to me to realize something.

I was only adding the individual series sub-folder to my user profile; not the entire media folder in which it that sub-folder resides.   Add the main folder that houses all the individual series sub-folders to my original user profile and it works fine.

Apparently PLEX doesn't like it when you add one series' folder as a Library folder.

Thanks for the tip.
