[SOLVED] No GUI mode, no NIC driver

Featured Replies

I upgraded the mobo in my UNRAID server.  I also upgraded the NIC.  The NIC uses the e1000e driver as a loadable module only.  I'd like to load that module from the GUI mode.  When I try to boot to the GUI mode, it says that it cannot connect to the localhost.  I feel like I'm caught in a Catch 22.

There isn't any way to install drivers in the GUI or otherwise.

What version of Unraid are you using?

Also, that driver is already included. Are you sure you don't have some actual hardware problem (cable, port, switch) with your network connection?

UNRAID version 6.8.3.  If the e1000e driver is already included, it's not recognizing my Intel 82574L network card.  The Realtek onboard NIC is recognized and it works.  lshw shows:  04:00.0 Ethernet controller:  Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection.  As a test, I disabled the onboard Realtek NIC.  I get the error:  Device "eth0" does not exist and no IP is assigned to the Intel card.  Is there a .plg file to install?  The instructions to untar the module file, compile it and insmod don't work on UNRAID.

I continued experimenting.  I tried the Intel NIC in a different PCIe slot and the Intel 82574L card worked!  I don't know why.  It's able to PING the router just fine. Hmm...   Well, I'm going to close the book on this thread.
