August 22, 20205 yr Hello, This is my first time working on a non-Mac OS in 20-something years, and my first time setting up unRAID. I tried following the directions from SpaceInvader One's "Unraid Shares in Depth - PT2 - MacOS - SMB - Time machine Backups" from May 20, 2019, to migrate my current Time Machine backup to my new unraid server. After several hours of frustration, here is my current status: * I have the share, Work_Time_Machine, set up per the above instructions, and listed in Main as an SMB Share. I have verified the SMB Security Settings, and allocated 2000000 MB (roughly 2tb?) to the volume size limit. Security is set to Secure. * The old Time Machine drive and the new Share are both mounted on the computer (Macbook Pro 2018, running Mojave). This took far too long to do. * I can see the Backups.backupdb folder in the old drive, but cannot copy it to Work_Time_Machine. "The volume is the wrong format for a backup." * In Time Machine, I can see the option to select Work_Time_Machine as an option. But if I do this without copying the data over first, I am going to be starting a fresh backup. * If I try to use the old drive to once again be used as a TM backup, it only uses the remaining (<70GB) drive space. Can anyone tell me how to copy the folder from the old drive to the new share? Or, at the very least, how to reconnect TM back to my old backup data?
