Current Case : NZXT H510 Processor: IIntel i7-8086k Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus X Hero (wifi-ac) Memory: 2x8gb G.Skill Trident 3200 Main VM OS Drive: Samsung 970 Pro 500gb Main VM GPU: Asus GTX 1080 Ti FE Secondary VM OS Drive: Samsung 840 Pro 128gb Secondary VM GPU: Asus RTX 2060 Super Other Drives for maybe plex: WD 4TB What should I plan to add-up or change? I just need 2 computers right now for kids e-learning. And of course dad still want to play WoW after. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Quote Link to comment
Decto Posted August 23, 2020 Share Posted August 23, 2020 I'm not clear what you really want to achive out of this given the relatively high end hardware for elearning. You have two very capable GPU's but will be sharing them across a 6 core CPU. This will be OK for Elearning but may be restrictive for gaming once you reserve a core or two for Unraid, you'll have at best 2 and 3 cores for the VM's. Likely you want a third VM for 'Full Fat' that you can switch between when you want to game to give you 5 cores. If it really is for elearning, would a NUC or chromebook or second hand 'corporate' spec laptop not be a lot simpler and more flexible? You could probably get a couple for near the price of a 2060 super. Quote Link to comment
