August 26, 20205 yr I updated my mobo bios the other day, and randomly today I'm having issues. The log shows 100% whenever I start one of the two VMs I have, one VM doesn't have gpu passthrough and it's fine, the one that does have my 2070 passed through is having issues, it starts regularly and doesn't give me any errors but there's no playback on the TV and I can't RDP into it either. The build is a 3950x, in a Crosshair VIII Hero, and the 2070 is the only gpu so I used the hex editor method to pass it through and never had issues until after I updated my bios, I noticed the settings reset on my bios and not sure if I just forgot to turn on a setting or not, I did make sure HVM and IOMMU are enabled. The Log is full of kernel: vfio-pci 0000:09:00.0: BAR 1: can't reserve [mem 0xd0000000-0xdfffffff 64bit pref] Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
August 27, 20205 yr Author Nevermind, I fixed it by disabling fast boot and enabled CSM (Compatibility Support Module) in bios and it's working again. Guess I had that enabled that last and forgot to re-enable after bios update. Hopefully this can help someone else if they get a similar issue.
