FragHunt
I'm in the process of finding parts for my new UnRAID server. I have set my mind on the parts but before I buy it all I would like some comments. My primary goal is to run a Windows 10 VM where I pass through my Nvidia Quadro P4000. I would like to know if I can expect this to be set up and run without any problems. Besides Win10 VM it would be running my NTP server, a few dockers (Pi-hole & UniFi controller), bittorrent and fileshare for my home. Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming X570 Plus CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Wraith Stealth RAM: G.Skill Aegis DDR4-3200 C16 PSU: Corsair RM750 - 750 Watt - 135 mm - 80 Plus Gold certified Will be moved from my current server: USB stick: Sandisk Cruzer Fit, 16 Gb. Cache: 2 x Kingston SSD, 240 Gb. Storage: 3 x Seagate Ironwolf 2 Tb. - 1 for parity Any help, comments and suggestions would be appreciated. Quote Link to comment
azmaril
By no means am I an expert on this just recently getting into all this myself, but from what I have researched do you need 2 x 240gb cache for a bit under 4 tb of useable storage. Also when using unraid its not necessary to use nas drives so you could save some money there. Quote Link to comment

Lots of different ways to use cache. Most will have some things (dockers, VMs) staying on cache. Quote Link to comment
azmaril
Ok so it's more about what you want to use the machine for and not the size of array, thanks good to know. Quote Link to comment
