Also wanted to ask should I get another smaller ssd or usb to install unraid onto and use the other as a cache? Would it be better to go with this setup focused on the intel and igpu or go with something like amd ryzen 5 2600 6 core with gt 1030? Would be happy to answer anything I have missed out, thanks for your help. Edited August 27, 2020 by azmaril Forgot part Quote Link to comment

azmaril
Thanks for the info, will definitely have to do some more research about this. Any ideas about the build. Quote Link to comment
azmaril
Was wondering if the cpu and mboard was overkill and if I could downgrade to get another ssd cache drive. Also need a boot drive for unraid, any suggestions? About $650 for build budget not including hdd and I'll be getting 2 to start with, 1 parity and other to use. Will get the others as needed, as far as I can tell will only need the one parity. Any suggestions would be helpful. Edited August 28, 2020 by azmaril Spelling Quote Link to comment

Much easier to add another SSD later than to upgrade CPU/mobo 45 minutes ago, azmaril said: Also need a boot drive for unraid, any suggestions? Any good brand name between 4GB and 32GB, USB2 is all that's needed and often more reliable than USB3. Quote Link to comment

azmaril
Would have never found that let alone understood what VT-d was for passthrough, thankyou. Quote Link to comment
azmaril
Finally figured out that the motherboard and CPU are not compatable, new board is MSI B365M Pro-VDH Intel 9th Gen Motherboard https://www.centrecom.com.au/msi-b365m-pro-vdh-intel-9th-gen-motherboard There are so many pc parts out there that it's hard to get reliable info especially if your not using it for general desktop or gaming.
