Random question about video out with VM's

Featured Replies

Hi , so I'm having a kinda minor issue with my video output in UNRAID.

I'm using a supermicro board and I'm using the on board vga output to an old Dell monitor (which I use basically as a console/webgui monitor for UNRAID to manage the server of I happen to be physically at said server).

I'm running a Windows 10 VM on it but my issue/question is , as soon as I start my VM the video output on said console monitor switches to the actual windows 10 VM display. Anyone know what causes this , and if it's possible to NOT have the VM show on my console monitor instead of the Host UNRAID OS be shown.

I'm probably doing something wrong , but I definitely did not pass through the on board vga (I read somewhere it's a matrox gpu on the supermicro x9drl-if ), although previously I DID have a passed through AMD radeo 4550 card installed , which is no longer physically on the machine.

If anyone could shed any light on this it would be much appreciated, I can provide more infor when I'm at my server , not at home at the mo.

Thanks in advance.

Attach diagnostics (Tools -> Diagnostics -> attach zip file).

If you just removed the card and not changed the xml then the onboard graphics could have been renumbered and coincidentally be passed through. But diagnostics should help.

Mark this as closed for some reason (an without changing any settings in the vm) my monitor started working the way i wanted it to. I just rebooted  an bought a key file and  it started working with the vm running.
