September 2, 20205 yr I have not been able to reliably copy files to my server. so far: I have tried switching from my 10gb fiber to internal 1gb nic. installed the latest Unraid OS 6.9.0-Beta25 disabled cache drives and write directly to array nothing has helped. I am accessing the share through windows. windows file copy will just stop after a while. I normally use I use teracopy to transfer and verify files. I have attached some screenshots from an attempted copy of a steam library I also have attached the unraid diagnostics file. -thank you the-rock-diagnostics-20200829-2336.zip
September 2, 20205 yr Community Expert Looks like network problems. Check cables, connections, ports, both ends, switch/router, etc.
September 14, 20205 yr Author I have done some more tests to rule out networking connections. I switched back to the 10g fiber card. I used a different source computer. I did a copy to a normal windows share from same computer. here's screenshots of the unraid vs the normal share, the unraid is continuing to exhibit the same behavior.
September 15, 20205 yr Author Is it possible this is caused by having a ryzen cpu? is the any other tests I can run to try and diagnose this problem? right now I basically have a very expensive paperweight
September 15, 20205 yr Author disabling nic bonding, running another test... this is how it was set Edited September 15, 20205 yr by Holo
September 16, 20205 yr Author results are in. I ran 2 tests. 1. the 10gb fiber nic -bonding disabled 2. the internal 1gb nic -bonding disabled same results as before here's the screenshots
September 18, 20205 yr Author I ok I switched to a different computer, it has an older version of teracopy. I have copied over 100tb with this version. here's the results. same thing. I have done some research, this guy seems to be having the same problem as me.
September 23, 20205 yr Author Here's another test.. failed ...posts about problems go back almost 10 years.. and nobody seems to have an answer. I know about these posts before I even started this thread, but who knows maybe some magical fix will come out of the blue.. I have no trouble copying to a regular old smb share on linux.. I have started testing a simple zfs pool outside of unraid in preperation to move on if I can't figure out a solution to make unraid reliable. so far the only advice I have gotten here change 1 box in network settings and try copying files from another computer, both of which I have done. September 23, 20205 yr Community Expert This is obviously not a general problem, and if we can't reproduce it's difficult to find where the problem is.
September 23, 20205 yr Author is there anything else I can try trying? the network bonding is the only setting that has been changed? any chance there is issues with hardware configuration... I have drives hooked up to the motherboard and they rest on a lsi 6Gbps SAS PCI-E card Edited September 23, 20205 yr by Holo
September 24, 20205 yr Community Expert Use as simple LAN config as possible, and if needed try with different hardware if available.
September 24, 20205 yr Just a guess: SMB - don't know if it applies here. Years ago I had similar problems when copying big files or a large count of files over network to Unraid. I even had these problems when copying from an Unraid machine to another Unraid machine. There's a bug report from me somewhere in the system. I could resolve that: Had to change the direction of copies and moves. Don't _SEND_ large files or a large count of files to Unraid. _PULL_ large files or a large count of files from Unraid. E.g.: Change from: "cp/mv/rsync [...] /local_something /remote_something" to "cp/mv/rsync [...] /remote_something /local_something" After changing all these commands I never had problems again.
