Parity schedule being ignored

Featured Replies

Ive set my my parity schedule to run once a week. However its seems to be running randomly. 2-4 times in a rolling 7 day period. been doing this now for about 2 months. Thoughts?

Once a week is probably excessive. Most do once a month. Since parity is realtime parity checks are not needed to maintain parity. It is just a check.

Post a screenshot of your parity schedule settings.

Also, go to Tools | Unraid OS and click Diagnostics. Post the complete downloaded ZIP file - somebody might spot a configuration error somewhere.

I am having the same issue.  I have scheduled my parity check and it is starting daily at random times.  I have attached my diag log.

You will always get a parity check after unclean shutdown:

Oct 9 09:29:03 192 emhttpd: unclean shutdown detected

I did not notice that my server is rebooting.  Now I need to figure out why it is happening.

I also, notice that you have the scheduled parity check set to correcting.   It is recommended that you have timber to non-correcting.   The rationale is that you do not want to corrupt/invalidate parity if you have a disk acting up.   A correcting check is only recommended when you think all disks are fine and you have had something like an unclean shutdown so some parity errors are expected and need fixing.
