September 5, 20205 yr I hope knowledgeable people on this forum can help me with GPU pathtrought. My Unraid System Information: M/B: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG ZENITH II EXTREME Version Rev 1.xx - s/n: 191161611200068 BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. Version 1101. Dated: 06/05/2020 CPU: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X 32-Core @ 3700 MHz HVM: Enabled IOMMU: Enabled Cache: 2048 KiB, 16384 KiB, 131072 KiB Memory: 256 GiB DDR4 (max. installable capacity 512 GiB) Network: bond0: fault-tolerance (active-backup), mtu 1500 eth0: interface down eth1: 10000 Mbps, full duplex, mtu 1500 Kernel: Linux 4.19.107-Unraid x86_64 OpenSSL: 1.1.1d I have two GPUs in this system. Primary GPU is Nvidia 710 and it's used by Unraid login. Secondary GPU is AMD Vega64. I created Mac OSX Catalina VM using MacInABox container. I created it with VNC and it all works. Hovever all attempts to change video output to Vega64 failed - I get no output from this card. I know for a fact that Catalina has drivers for this GPU. Things that I've tried: - I did not need to split IOMMU groups, everything important was in different groups already - pass VBIOS - switched to Legacy boot - make virtual GPU multifunctional (for audio) - add some flags to syslinux I found on this forum - I'm careful with preserving XML after making changes in forms view One thing I have not tried is to install the VM with Vega64 from the get go, instead of switching from VNC install. Could this be my problem? I'm out of ideas and appreciate any and all help/suggestions what else to try. Thanks a lot in advance.
October 15, 20205 yr Author Unfortunately I did not get any replies for my message. But I would like to provide an update with my problem. Thinking that maybe my hardware is somehow not compatible I decided to try it on different type of server, specifically proxmox. It uses exact same KVM insfrastructure for virtual machines. And everything worked under proxmox, including GPU pathtrought. Now I'm considering switching to it.
