DarGee
Hi, Just looking at the feasibility of having 2 tiers of storage - fast SSD (aim to saturate 10Gb) and slow HDD for bulk storage / media. My thinking was to use cache only shares for the fast SSD and normal array shares for bulk / media. Plan would be for 4 or 6 SSDs, either 1tb or 2tb each, on their own LSI HBA. The sticking point may be that I would like to use dual parity for the cache, and would like it to be capable of saturating 10gb (notwithstanding actual throughput will vary depending on file size etc). Can cache use dual parity? I’m guessing to meet the speed expectations as well, it would need to be striped RAID6 - can cache be set this way, or am I realistically looking at moving to ZFS or mdraid? Had an unRaid setup for a few years now and to be honest, it’s been pretty much set and forget, but just a basic HDD / single parity. Looking to upgrade a bit and bring the unRaid box in line with the rest of my network and lab using 10gb... Has anyone done anything like this that can offer any advice? Quote Link to comment
trurl
Unraid has had a selection of btrfs raid configurations in the cache pool for some years now: Current beta also allows multiple pools. Quote Link to comment
