January 18, 201115 yr A firmware upgrade is REQUIRED in all versions of unRAID to prevent data corruption. Version 4.7 merely supports advanced format drives.
January 18, 201115 yr Correct. These drives suffer from silent data corruption without the firmware upgrade in any OS. Unfortunately for the users, Samsung opted not to change the firmware revision in an effort to sweep this issue silently under the rug. This means there is no way to tell if your drives have the new firmware or if the firmware update even succeeded. See the warning thread in my signature for the full info. Proceed at your own risk!
