david97
I'm using two parity drives that are 4TB and 4 4TB drives, as i understand it if i want to use a 8TB HDD i would need to have a parity drive of the same size so would both parity drives need to be 8TB or only one of them? Thanks Edited September 14, 2020 by david97 Quote Link to comment
Decto
Both parity drives need to be the same size or larger than any other drive in the array. If you want an 8TB array drive they both need to be 8TB Edited September 14, 2020 by Decto Quote Link to comment
david97
I assume i can upgrade one parity drive at a time then? Does it matter if your HDD's have different rpms? Thanks again. Edited September 14, 2020 by david97 Quote Link to comment

Yes. 1 hour ago, david97 said: Does it matter if your HDD's have different rpms? Depends what you mean by matter. Unraid will function fine with a wide variety of performing drives. Performance will be limited to the slowest drive involved in any particular operation. Quote Link to comment
