How to tell if a Dell H310 controller is genuine

Recommended Posts

Good Day All,

I am interested in buying a Dell H310 controller from a seller.

How can I tell if the card is genuine or if it is fake?

Unfortunately, I am unable to actually see the card in person as the seller is remote to me.

This is the description as per the seller: "Dell PERC H310 HV52W 6.0Gb/S SAS / SATA RAID Controller"

Thank you.

You probably can't without getting pictures / serial numbers of the exact card you'd be purchasing and then asking Dell or Broadcom themselves.

But,

  • If it seems way too cheap compared to others it's probably fake
  • If it comes via China, the odds that it's counterfeit increase significantly (not a guarantee though)

I got a Dell H310 off eBay from a very reputable seller (nothing for sale now) who specialized in server pulls.

If its a decommissioned server pull, you usually don't have to worry about it.

You can get them either pre-flashed with IT mode firmware (version 20.00.07.00) or still in RAID mode requiring you to flash the IT firmware.

I got mine for $30 and flashed myself.

Here's one pre-flashed from the most reputable eBay seller of server pulls:
