September 17, 20205 yr Good Day All, I am interested in buying a Dell H310 controller from a seller. How can I tell if the card is genuine or if it is fake? Unfortunately, I am unable to actually see the card in person as the seller is remote to me. This is the description as per the seller: "Dell PERC H310 HV52W 6.0Gb/S SAS / SATA RAID Controller" Thank you.
September 17, 20205 yr You probably can't without getting pictures / serial numbers of the exact card you'd be purchasing and then asking Dell or Broadcom themselves. But, If it seems way too cheap compared to others it's probably fake If it comes via China, the odds that it's counterfeit increase significantly (not a guarantee though)

I got a Dell H310 off eBay from a very reputable seller (nothing for sale now) who specialized in server pulls. If its a decommissioned server pull, you usually don't have to worry about it. You can get them either pre-flashed with IT mode firmware (version 20.00.07.00) or still in RAID mode requiring you to flash the IT firmware. I got mine for $30 and flashed myself. Here's one pre-flashed from the most reputable eBay seller of server pulls: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-H310-6Gbps-SAS-HBA-w-LSI-9211-8i-P20-IT-Mode-for-ZFS-FreeNAS-unRAID/162834659601?epid=19006955695&hash=item25e9b3b911:g:UxcAAOSwWrxcPvQv Edited September 17, 20205 yr by Hoopster
