mrbaba
Hello all, I'm looking to check the components I'm thinking about buying will be suitable for an unRAID build (I'm UK based and will be using Scan to buy the bits): Asus M4A88T-M http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/asus-m4a88t-m-amd-880g-s-am3-pci-e-20-(x16)-ddr3-1866(oc)-sata-raid-matx-on-board-graphics AMD Sempron 145 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/amd-sempron-145-sargas-core-s-am3-28ghz-1mb-cache-ht-4000mhz-45w-retail Fractal Design Define R3http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/fractal-design-define-r3-black-pearl-mid-tower-case-w-o-psu 2GB Corsair DDR3 XMS3 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/2gb-corsair-ddr3-xms3-pc3-10666-(1333)-non-eccunbuffered-cl-9-9-9-24-150v 650W Corsair CMPSU-650TXUK http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w-corsair-cmpsu-650txuk-tx-86-eff-sli-crossfire-37db-eps-12v-120mm-quiet-fan-single-rail Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro v2 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/arctic-cooling-freezer-7-pro-v2-s1366-1155-1156-775-am3-am2plus-am2-939-up-to-130-watts At today's prices that's around £275, which would be the end of my budget. I have 2x 1.5tb, 1x 1tb, 1x 500gb and 2x 320gb drives, which I'll be upgrading to 2tb's when needed and funds allow. I've based the above loosely around the UK budget build, with a few updates due to being unable to source some of the older items. Any opinions or improvements on the above will be greatly appreciated. Quote Link to comment
Rajahal
Looks good to me. The CPU cooler is likely unnecessary, but if you really want it then go for it. You could also get away with cheaper/less powerful RAM, such as Kingston or Patriot. The Corsair RAM is nice, but unRAID doesn't need anything that fast. Not a big deal whichever you decide to do.
