Out of Memory Error in Fix Common Problems [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I ran the fix common problems and it reported that I had out of memory issues detected and that I should post here to get help.  So here I am diagnostics in hand hoping someone can help me sort out what I need to do.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Okay looking at the logs I believe it just killed the firefox process in the gui.

Is there a way that I can stop the gui while the server is running?  I used the gui as I started it up this time, but most of the time I don't need it to be up using resources.

You only have 4 GB of memory, have you considered adding more?  4 GB is okay if you want to *just* run unraid but if you start doing more (dockers, vm, etc) you should consider adding more memory.

You could try killing xserver to shutdown the GUI but it would probably be best to reboot into non gui to save resources.  Also, you could try disabling anything you aren't using, such as VMs and Docker (I don't know if you are using any dockers, don't see any reference to anything in the diagnostics) - such that they no longer appear in the top menu bar.

Good luck

Thank you for the answer @civic95man! I have very much considered getting more than 4GB, tired to build the server w/ 8GB but ended up that one of the sticks got damaged in transit so here we are.

I do have a couple dockers running right now, which I would like to keep running so sounds like I have some shopping to do soon.

Sorry I couldn't give you better news.  You could try to disable VMs and see if it helps some.  At least memory is cheap now!
