[SOLVED] disk load unbalanced

Featured Replies

Please help me to understand why the load on Disk 1, 2 and 3 is not equal distributed.

Disk 1 contains all the data (~900 GB) and disks 2 and 3 are emtpy.

Thank you very much for your quick response Jorge. Please confirm me that I understand well: the first disk will be loaded until one-half, that means 4 TB, after that disk 2 will be loaded until one-half, then disk 3. After I will load more that 12 TB  (4 TB x 3 disks ) then disk 1 will be loaded to the second-half.

Correct.

ok, just one more question, in my configuration described in the first attach, with one parity disks, three data disks and parity valid, if I pull disk 1 from the server, my data will be online and untouched?

  • Community Expert

Yes, single parity protects from a single missing disk.

Jorge, you illuminated me tonight! not only did you help me very quickly, but you also told me what I wanted to hear 🥳 .

I had some emotions so I opened this topic to make sure I'm not mistaken and to confirm that my data is safe.

I think we can close this thread. Thank you again
