Maddeen
Hi, is it possible to configure a NIC, that it's only useable for Wake on Lan and nothing else? To understand my question I need to spend a few more words I separated my network in different VLANs. One of them is a IoT_Vlan where my HomeyPro (central bridge/device for home automation) connects. Another is my private VLAN where my unRAID connects. Before this, HomeyPro and my server were in the same networt - so Homey could easily send WoL infos to the server. But with this separating - by default (because my switch is just a Layer2 and not capable of doing a UDP relay) I immediately lost my WoL solution for my unRAID server because it was implemented on my HomeyPro. So (as far as I found out) there is no technical solution to send the needed WoL infos from one VLAN to another. tl:dr So my idea is, that I connect the second NIC of my unRaid to the IoT_VLAN, to enable my HomePro sending the WoL infos to my server. But without some security settings it would be stupid, because intentionally it was my goal to separate the IoT stuff (like HomeyPro) from my private network. Is there an option to use the NIC in a way that it's just there without any way to connect to my unraid server (no gui, no ssl ... everything blocked except the ports (UDP 7;9) for WoL) Hope that's not sounding to paranoid Thanks in advance Quote Link to comment
