January 19, 201115 yr I've been sending live TV recordings from SageTV to an Unraid cache drive for a while now. I moved to a different chassis and in the process some of the SATA connections got moved around. I've since been having trouble with occasional pauses and then high speed catch ups in the video. It's on the recording side, not the playback side. Playback of all content, DVDs and TV recordings, seems to be consistent without any additional pauses. Is there any way to measure if I have a problem with the particular SATA controller that the cache drive is connected to besides moving the disk around to different controllers and hoping for the best? I've tested raw SMB copy throughput and I'm getting about 40+MBps where a copy to one of the array drives was only doing about 20+. 40+MBps should be plenty and most of the time that seems to be the case. I'm just wondering if the controller is prone to interrupts of some sort. I don't even know if that's possible. I'm not convinced it's the controller but I'm running out of options. Thanks!
