Supported / Unsupported UPSes (APC)

Featured Replies

I recently bought a new UPS (APC Back-UPS XS 700U) for my small unRAID server but it seems like it won't work as intended. I also posted on the Reddit page with someone responding that it's not supported. It's a small APC usb enabled UPS which works fine on Windows but not with unRAID, I was hoping to at least get it to identify that power is down so it will gracefully shut down when I'm away.

Is there a list of "guaranteed to work" APC UPSes ?

If I'm not able to make it work I'll be in the position to return or sell it so I can get a a supported one , but which work?!

Thank you for your time, below a screenshot of what unRaid sees when the UPS is connected. I also tried NUT and it seems to show the exact same information.

Have you had a look at this thread

In my case I had to update the firmware of the UPS in windows and then change it to modbus to get full stats.  I don't know if that model works with modbus, but it cant hurt to try different settings.

How it doesn't work ? BackUPS usually won't measure / provide realtime power usage.

And this UPS battery capacity can't provide sufficient portect time for your loading which need safe shutdown.

I'm looking into connecting the device to a Windows machine , I tried with my desktop but I had issues... it might be defective.

I want it to shutdown after 30 seconds of no power but it won't detect that it is on battery.

It *is* sufficient. The PSU of the machine is 350W. Calculators put it at 171W too on *full load*, which hardly ever happens.

It's a mini-itx , small enclosure with a low TDP processor.

How about PowerChute personal/business showing when connect to UPS ?
