Access Data of Lost drive

Featured Replies

Hi,

I`m ne with unraid and i have a question. If i loose one  Data drive of my array (2 Disks and one Parity) can i still access the content on the would be on disk (without replacing the disk @ the moment) like it would go in RAID 5.

Sry if this is a dump question.

Best reguars

Yes the missing disk can be read and even written but you have no redundancy until replace/rebuild of course.

@serberer, This is a true 'what-if' question and not the situation you find yourself facing?

@Frank1940Yes this is a 'what-if' question.

@trurl I tested it yesterday. Powered down my Server and pulled one HDD and then started it. After that the data wasn't in the share. Did I something wrong?

Best Regards

@Frank1940 If checked today the parity and there where some Sync Errors. I will try later a "disk failure" and check again the shares.

Best regards
