How and Why did Plex Randomly Change a File Permission?

Featured Replies

I was in the middle of watching a movie via Plex on android when all of the sudden the movie stopped playing. I couldn't get it to play again on my phone. I tried accessing the file directly on my Win10 machine and I couldn't open or copy the .mkv file.

Eventually I found that permission for the file had changed from "-rw-rw-rw-"  to "-rw-------

I used chmod a+rw to restore the original file permission, but why would the permission have changed in the first place?

It is impossible to provide any sort of a response to your query with so little information.

Why do think that Plex changed the file permissions?

Was that the only file that was changed?

What program wrote the file in the first place?  (Plex is not the answer as there are may different implementation of Plex.)

Did any other program have write access to the file after it was created?
