Does this package help in performance in anyway? I have 8GB of ram in the system now and just have a few packages already running.

i have it installed as i thought it might help with couchpotato or SAb but till now i never seen it been used in top

and i have only 3gb ram in my server

so i guess that it won't help for you too...

To see if you're even using the swapfile or are even close to needing one, issue the following commands and examine their output:

 

vmstat && free

 

Keep in mind unRAID will hardly ever swap unless you start altering the kernel tunings with swappiness.

With 8GB of ram, I bet swap would hardly ever be used unless you make some very large memory requirements.
