October 7, 20205 yr Two drives have been getting CRC errors. I have a Norco 4224 which is basically famous for having faulty hotswap bays. I have tried the following in this order: - Swapping SAS cables around. Same drives kept erroring. - Different ports on my SAS cards. Same drives kept erroring. - Replacing the hotswap bays backplates (I had 3 spares, tried all 3). Same drives kept erroring. - Rotating drives around. New drives started erroring, same hotswap bays. This told me that it HAD to be something related to those hotswap bays, but I already replaced them soo... - Rotated PSU cables. Different drives started erroring but still 2 drives. Oh so it's a bad PSU cable? - Replaced the "bad" PSU cable with one I know is good. Same drives kept erroring. - Swapped the PSU cable on the PSU end to another port. Same drives kept erroring. My mind is blown. I have covered every single thing and nothing makes sense unless there is multiple issues causing CRC errors. At this point I was meaning to do a server upgrade so.. - Swapped out entire mobo/ram/cpu for new ones. Same issue. Only thing I can think of is replacing the entire PSU and all it's cables. Not sure what else it could be at this point. Edited October 7, 20205 yr by ramesivi
