Hot Standby for the boot USB stick

Wouldn't it be a good idea to have a hot standby for the BOOT USB stick?

Boot from one, but write changes in the configuration to both.
When the bootdisk fails, you simply remove it and boot from the backup USB stick
When adding an empty USB stick in a server with only one Bootable USB stick a question can be asked to enable the new one as hot standby.

    I second this thought, I don't know how or if it could work considering the licence is on the USB stick... but the idea is good.
