October 12, 20205 yr With Googles new rules on unlimited drive space I think it's about time I just add hard drives to my system and have it all in house. I am currently looking at using Unraid for this. I have about 100Tb of data now. My system is below but I am wondering what SAS controller is recommended? I found a good deal on 8Tb 12GTb/s drives I can get for 99.00 each. So I am think 15 of those plus 2 10Tb drives for parity. Just not sure on a controller. May also need a PSU upgrade. Case - Rosewill RSV-L4500 - 15 Bays Mobo - GA-7PESH 4 CPU - 2 of Intel Xeon E5-2670 v2 RAM - 4x SK Hynix PC3-12800R DDR3 1600MHz ECC 16 x 16Gb = 256Gb GPU -ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 PSU - Cooler Master MWL 500 NVMe for Plex - 2 Tb Intel 660p - Runs Cloudbox mounts, Ubuntu, Plex DB
October 12, 20205 yr Recommended options would be a 16 port LSI HBA, or two 8 port LSIs, or one 8 port LSI plus a SAS expander.

Thinking of going with 2x LSI SAS9302-8i ServeRAID N2215 12Gbps SAS HBA P16 IT mode. Just have to watch hard drive prices now. Thanks again!

October 12, 20205 yr Author Alright, I can get the 16port version cheaper then 2 8 port cards.
