Is that a normal speed, preclear very long

Featured Replies

Hi, first post, I'm trying Unraid, disk are connected to a LSI 9300-8i controller on the PCI 16x port. CPU is a I7-8700k and motherboard is a Gigabyte z370-n.

Yesterday I installed one of those 8TB Western Digital white label and started that preclean operation.

This morning I'm at 14h, the step 1 ( pre-read) is at 88% done, Average speed 143 MB/s

Nothing else is running on the server, I stopped the Plex and all other VM's. Average CPU load is around 10-15% during the operation.

Is there anything I did wrong

Seems normal to me. If you want us to look closer

Go to Tools - Diagnostics and attach the complete Diagnostics ZIP file to your NEXT post in this thread.

That's normal, just running preclear on a shucked Prime Day 8TB WD drive, it took a little over 17 hours for the first read averaging 130MB/s.

They slow down quite a lot on the inner tracks at the end.

Keep in mind that parity checks etc will take the same time.
