Adding Disks

Featured Replies

Im wondering if i broke something.  I have 4 drives in my array of 3 tb of size and 1 parity so I tried to toss 3 other drives I had laying around in there too and now I don't see the new drives at all????  These other drives are older 500 gig drives but still???  do I just not see them because they are already formatted for NTFS or something?

That's your problem.  You shouldn't throw drives around. Handle them gently.

Seriously though, we would need diagnostics to know what is going on.  Post them on the next reply

Oh this can squarely be laid at my feet for being a moron.  I am running my array through an HBA and I didn't get the second sas connector seated properly upon fixing that layer 1 problem I have the drives undergoing a preclear to see if its worth using them or not

nice!

If you don't need the capacity yet I recommend not adding disks. Each additional disk is an additional point of failure. Older smaller disks especially don't seem worth it.
