[SOLVED] unraid can't ping internet

Featured Replies

i can't get unraid to connect to the internet, installing docker containers etc fails, viewing the app store fails.

when i try to ping google.com i see that it resolves the DNS correctly, but it can't reach it:

root@Tower:~# ping google.com
PING google.com (172.217.6.14) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 10.253.0.1 (10.253.0.1) icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable
ping: sendmsg: Destination address required
^CFrom 10.253.0.1 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
ping: sendmsg: Destination address required

--- google.com ping statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 0 received, +2 errors, 100% packet loss, time 5018ms

pinging the router, or other devices on the network works fine:

root@Tower:~# ping 192.168.1.1
PING 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.240 ms
^C
--- 192.168.1.1 ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.240/0.240/0.240/0.000 ms

i guess wireguard doesn't do a cleanup if you uninstall it:

ip link delete wg0

deleting this wg0 made everything start working again

I also ran into the same issue. The fix (that would work across reboots) would be to unplug the Unraid USB drive, connect it to another computer, make a backup, remove the following directory on the USB:

/config/wireshark

Then re-plug into your Unraid machine. Otherwise, the above will only work once and you have to re-apply the above fix every time you boot up your server.
