October 22, 20205 yr So i am copying a bunch of stuff from my old file server to my unraid server and as soon as I start the unraid server dashboard just quit working. I am imagining that the smb process is just overloading my CPU but I have a 10th gen i3 with 16 gigs of ram should it really be hammering my whole system this much? With the 400 gigs i am copying is my unraid server just going to be useless all day?

October 22, 20205 yr Community Expert Don't see any issues in the log, does it happen it any transfer, array or cache? What if you use a disk share?
October 22, 20205 yr Author I just changed it to prefer cache on this particular share and no difference i start transferring files I get locked out of the gui

October 22, 20205 yr Author Oh yeah this is all samba shares that are causing this. Can a disk share be seen by a windows client? Sorry I can't test it just yet since my new xfer is going and my gui is dead
October 22, 20205 yr Community Expert Disk shares are still Samba shares, but bypass FUSE, so worth trying.
October 22, 20205 yr Community Expert Though most likely you have another issue, but since I don't see errors on the syslog don't know what it is.
October 23, 20205 yr Author basically what happens is that once one of these transfers gets going it looks like it cpu throttles an entire thread up to 100% and then the whole system just gets unresponsive.
October 23, 20205 yr Author I am using the beta version though due to being told I needed it to use quick sync on the 10th gen intel i have in it.
