October 24, 20205 yr Samba project disabled v1 protocol by default for security reasons from version 4.11. Unraid 6.8.3 config file /etc/samba/smb-names.conf reverts this with line "server min protocol = NT1" Do you agree to keep smb v1 available? I have just basic linux admin knowledge but I didn't expect that my unraid shares will be available on smb v1 protocol. I've ditched old lacie nas just for this reason and went with unraid to have up to date secure nas. I believe setup should be secure as much as possible by default. Any legacy compatibility issues could be solved by properly explained config option in samba settings GUI. Related question is how to fix this in my setup? Is this file user editable? Will it get overwritten by GUI? Thanks for any help with this.
October 24, 20205 yr SMB1 is only enabled I believe if you configure it to be so by enabling NetBios support. The help for that setting explains this. Maybe a more emphatic warning might be given?
October 25, 20205 yr Author Hi itimpi, you are right thanks for the explanation, I must have enabled NetBios at some point without looking at the help.
