Random Shutdown

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Is there a way to check what time and why my server randomly shutdown last night during a data rebuild?

There was no power outage of my knowledge, my server is connected to a UPS with shutdown set to power off the server at 10 min battery left.

I'm wondering if it is the PSU which is a (EVGA 550W) as its only happened since i added a 12TB drive and did a parity/ data swap.

My setup is as below;

Ryzen 5 2600X

3 x 120mm fans

2 x 80mm fans

9 x 3.5 HDD

2 x NVME

2 x SSD

1 x GPU

1 x LSI Card

You might want to start here with the things this person tried:

Might be.  PSU's have give similar problems in the past.  (After a 24 hour memtst, that would be the next thing I would try.  You might be able to borrow one from a friend or a vendor with a liberal return policy.)

99% of the time, these types of issues are hardware related.  Finding them is often a matter of replacing components one at a time until one finds the culprit.

You can also try the syslog server.  See here for info on using it.

Hello guys, I got some random shutdowns during the last month. I was copying files or updating docker and PC just shutdown!

Is there anything I can do the check this out? Can I start with the PSU? I am using a Corsair 650W now..

Ok changed the PSU and report back here if I have the same issue again. Just hope it was the PSU!
